Who is Gandi?

GANDI.net, in operation since March 2000, was one of the first domain name registrars to be approved by ICANN for .COM, .NET,.ORG, .BIZ, .INFO, .NAME and .BE domains. GANDI has also been an accredited registrar for .FR and .EU domains since 2005, and many other extensions since.

GANDI SAS is a French company founded in 1999 by three well-known French Internet pioneers (Pierre Beyssac, Laurent Chemla, Valentin Lacambre). In 2005, it was bought by a new management team, experienced in the same domain market, in order to create an alternative and independent line of Internet services based around domain names.

Gandi is devoted to providing tools to everyone to meet their personal objectives. Whether this is to discuss their interests (travel, family, passions, etc.), present products or services, or simply to express themselves. In short, we enable people to lay claim to a personal and professional quality online presence. We position ourselves as the next port of call after Internet access providers, since the domain name is the next step in claiming your own piece of the Internet.

As of January 1st 2008, we manage more than 646,000 domain names in 192 countries, which puts us in first place among domain name registrars in France, and sixth in Europe (behind 5 German registrars - their market being proportionally the largest in the world).

Our clients range from individuals, associations and small companies to public institutions (the EU for example) and large multinational corporations. All have put their trust in us, and this is something we are deeply proud of.

Gandi is atypical in that we do not advertise in any way, nor do we resell our customers' personal information. From the beginning, our success has been based solely on word-of-mouth generated by our customers. We intend to continue this practice.
